FARES for Computers and IT Solutions S.A. was formed in 2003 to provide IT goods and services to the Libyan market, with a focus on providing data networking infrastructure and the sale of computing equipment, together with the associated support and after sales service.

Within 3 years, having  provided complex data networking infrastructure solutions to such renowned companies as Exxon-Mobil, Bechtel, BP, Shell, Halliburton[D1] , Asama Cement, Huawei,  and Schlumberger,  it became clear that demands for the company’s data networking expertise far outstripped that for office equipment, so the business focus was aligned exclusively with this technology sector and partnerships were signed with manufacturers such as Cisco Systems, EMC[D2] , Panduit, Microsoft, Dell and other leading players.

In 2008, as a result of the growing convergence of data networking infrastructures and data centres, Fares began to provide services into the Data Centre sector which led to the partnership in 2009 with AST Global, the renowned Spanish designer, fabricator and constructor of a range of fixed (up to Tier 4 TIA 942) and mobile (containerised) data centres.
